Netflix marked April Fools' Day with a witty set of dinosaur parodies that instantly grabbed attention.
On April 1, the streamer flooded its official social channels with posters fronted by dinosaurs. Each one mashed the documentary The Dinosaurs into hit titles like Boyfriend on Demand, Can This Love Be Translated?, Bloodhounds 2, and Single's Inferno 5. They even swapped the titles for dino-themed puns: Wolganryongchin, I Sarang Tongyeok Doenaryong?, Sanyangryongdeul, and Solryongjiok.
Netflix amped up the joke with cheeky copy like "Is there a dinosaur out there who's a perfect match for me?", "Translating your toughest cries", "A high-stakes gamble with thousands of eggs on the line—fights that literally bite to the end", and "Where some dinos love and others fall apart."
They capped it off with the punchline: "Not coming to Netflix."
The surprise drop sparked buzz online, with comments like "I'm so ready for 'Solryongjiok'", "Give us 'Wolganryongchin'", and "'Sanyangryongdeul' looks terrifying."
Meanwhile, the Netflix Original documentary The Dinosaurs, released last month, follows 2023's Life on Our Planet. Spanning from 4.5 billion years ago to today, it explores extinct species of the past alongside life that thrives in the present.
