Actor Ahn Hyo-seop expressed deep affection for the Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters.
On the 15th, the production presentation for the drama Sold Out on You was held at the SBS headquarters in Mok-dong, Seoul. Leads Ahn Hyo-seop, Chae Won-bin, Kim Bum, and director Ahn Jong-yeon attended the event.
Sold Out on You is a slice-of-life romance that follows perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee (played by Ahn Hyo-seop) and sellout-driven home shopping host Dam Ye-jin (played by Chae Won-bin) as their lives intertwine, aiming to deliver both everyday relatability and healing.
In the series, Ahn Hyo-seop transforms into Matthew Lee, a young farmer who is the only cultivator of the White Flower Nuri mushroom, while also serving as the CEO of a naturals-based raw materials company and a cosmetics researcher — a true "three-job" character. Ahn explained, "The character himself is extremely busy and passionate, but as the story unfolds, he delivers the message that 'you don't have to live that fiercely.'"
This project especially drew attention as Ahn's next step after K-Pop Demon Hunters. On this, he joked, "I get a lot of questions like, 'Did you leave 'Saja Boys'?' I never left. I just died," sending the room into laughter. He added, "I finished recording for that project first, which freed up my schedule, and during that time I came across this script. My previous projects were emotionally draining, so I found healing through this one." Ahn voiced Jin-woo in K-Pop Demon Hunters, helping drive the film's success.
Having built a strong relationship with SBS through works like Dr. Romantic, Lovers of the Red Sky, and Business Proposal, Ahn addressed the nickname "son of SBS," saying, "It's both embarrassing and a bit of a burden," but added modestly, "It naturally happened because I kept choosing good scripts."
Director Ahn Jong-yeon, who helmed the series, described it as "a therapy-like drama" that prioritizes comfort and empathy over provocative conflict.
Meanwhile, Sold Out on You will premiere at 9 p.m. on the 22nd.
