Nine members of The Boyz (Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo, Eric) secured a court decision granting their request for an injunction to suspend the effect of their exclusive contract with agency Onehundred, opening the door to independent activities.
On the 23rd, The Boyz’s legal representative stated, "The exclusive contract has been lawfully terminated. The court granted the application for an injunction to suspend the contract’s effect."
The court found the agency failed to fulfill its obligation to pay settlements and to provide related documentation. It further ruled that core elements of the agreement—such as management support and artist protection—were not faithfully carried out, collapsing the trust between the parties beyond repair.
In particular, the key dispute over the nature of the signing bonus was interpreted in the members’ favor. The agency argued the total ₩16.5 billion signing amount was an advance to be recouped from future earnings, but the court deemed it separate consideration for recruiting the artists. In other words, previously paid signing money cannot replace the duty to settle accounts.
With this decision, the nine members are freed from the constraints of their former agency and can move forward with individual activities and new plans. The members said, "Schedules already set are promises to fans, so we will carry them out responsibly," and "We will continue to stand by fans with our best selves."
Previously, excluding member New, the nine filed a criminal complaint against CEO Cha Gawon for embezzlement, escalating their legal response. They also publicly refuted the agency’s claim that settlements were complete, fueling a heated back-and-forth.
Meanwhile, The Boyz will meet fans with their solo concert 'INTER-ZECTION' at Seoul’s KSPO DOME from today (24th) through the 26th.
