Actors Ha Jung-woo and Son Seok-gu will star in director Yoon Jong-bin's new film Ordinary People.
On the 27th, Netflix confirmed the production of Yoon Jong-bin's Ordinary People and unveiled its casting lineup.
The film follows Roh Tae-woo, the perennial No. 2 who hides behind the mask of an "ordinary person" while aiming for a higher seat beside the untouchable strongman Chun Doo-hwan. Yoon Jong-bin, who wrote and will direct the film, is known for Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time (2012) and The Spy Gone North.
Ha Jung-woo plays Chun Doo-hwan, the absolute ruler of the new military dictatorship, while Son Seok-gu appears as Roh Tae-woo, Chun's friend and long-standing second-in-command.
Ji Chang-wook takes on the role of Heo Hak-seong, a Korea Military Academy junior who is a thorn in Roh's side. Hyun Bong-sik plays Jung Ho-jung, a classmate of Roh Tae-woo and Chun Doo-hwan, and Seo Hyun-woo appears as Park Cheol-ung, a prosecutor in the Public Security Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and a key aide to Roh Tae-woo.
The casting sparked explosive reactions such as "This lineup is next level" and "I've been waiting just for this."
The film is expected to be released via Netflix.
