A man in his 30s who broke into comedian Park Na-rae’s home and stole valuables has had his prison sentence finalized.

According to the legal community on the 20th, the Supreme Court’s First Division dismissed the defendant’s final appeal on April 16, upholding the lower court’s sentence of two years in prison on charges including theft and nighttime trespassing.

The defendant was indicted for entering Park Na-rae’s residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in April last year and stealing valuables worth tens of millions of won. During the investigation, it was also found that he attempted to dispose of some of the stolen goods.

In the first trial held in September, the court noted that the defendant admitted to the crime and returned the stolen items, but also considered his prior record for similar offenses and the scale of damages in issuing the sentence.

The same ruling was upheld in the second trial in February. The appellate court dismissed the appeal, stating that there were no grounds to change the sentence.

After the defendant filed a final appeal, the Supreme Court concluded that the case did not meet the criteria for further review and dismissed the appeal, finalizing the sentence.

Meanwhile, Park Na-rae has recently paused broadcasting activities amid separate controversies.
