Rapper Sik-K has received a suspended prison sentence on appeal following charges related to illegal drug use.
On the 30th, the Criminal Appellate Division 2-1 of the Seoul Western District Court (Presiding Judge Jeong Seong-gyun) rejected both the prosecution’s and the defendant’s appeals, maintaining the original sentence of 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, along with probation and a 40-hour drug relapse prevention program.
The court said that while drug crimes carry a high risk of repeat offenses, the initial ruling had already considered relevant factors and would therefore be upheld.
Sik-K was indicted for using ketamine and ecstasy in October 2023 and for smoking marijuana in January 2024. The case drew attention after he reportedly approached a police officer in Yongsan-gu and voluntarily confessed to drug use. He was later indicted without detention.
In the first trial, the court considered both the number of offenses and Sik-K’s public profile, alongside his confession and expression of remorse. Prosecutors appealed, seeking a heavier sentence, but the appellate court did not grant the request.
In the same case, a co-defendant also had their sentence upheld, receiving a fine of 7 million won and a 40-hour rehabilitation order.
