Lee So-ra has opened up about reuniting with Hong Jin-kyung after 15 years through a new variety show.
On the 20th, Lee So-ra posted on Instagram, “The first episode of Sora and Jinkyung airs this Sunday,” along with several photos.
The images show Lee So-ra and Hong Jin-kyung standing side by side in matching black outfits and sunglasses, leaning against a wall. Their expressions and styling highlight a composed and familiar chemistry, while Lee So-ra added a lighter touch by taking the photos herself on her phone.
She also joked, “Jinkyung, should we go ahead and shoot The Matrix?” reflecting the ease of their interaction.
Lee said the reunion carried deeper meaning beyond a simple television appearance. She explained, “Most of the memories Jinkyung and I share are tied to loss,” adding, “That’s why we couldn’t even check in on each other for the past 15 years.”
She continued, “The producers reconnected us through the shared narrative of ‘models’ and ‘fashion.’ Whether meeting again was a mistake — or the best decision we could’ve made — please watch the show to find out.”
Lee So-ra and Hong Jin-kyung were first-generation supermodels who were especially close during the 1990s. However, after actress Choi Jin-sil’s passing, they reportedly grew apart amid a series of hardships and losses.
The MBC variety show Sora and Jinkyung follows their attempt to return to the runway. The program will show the two former supermodels revisiting the ambitions and energy they once had in their 20s.
Sora and Jinkyung premieres on the 26th at 9:10 p.m.
