Mnet is dropping a brand-new dance survival show. The latest entry in the Street series, Street World Fighter: Director's War, is set to be unveiled this August.
Street World Fighter: Director's War (hereafter "SDF") follows Street Woman Fighter and Street Man Fighter as the franchise's next chapter. This season breaks the mold by putting the world of "performance directors"—the creatives who design and complete entire stages—front and center, going far beyond a simple test of dance skills.
In SDF, directors will compete not only in choreography creation but also in stage composition, production, and storytelling to determine who can deliver the most jaw-dropping piece. The core concept is a "stage war," not just a dance battle. Mnet stated, "K-pop performances are now consumed as standalone works of art," adding, "This is the moment when the directors who once stayed behind the scenes become the main characters."
The newly released teaser only amped up the hype. Massive stages—like those from CJ ENM's awards show MAMA AWARDS—flash across the screen, hinting at an unprecedented scale.
Notably, this season introduces an all-gender competition system that removes traditional gender lines, unlike previous installments. With contenders facing off purely on skill, fans can expect fiercer clashes and fresher matchups. While the cast lineup remains under wraps, silhouettes in the teaser have already sparked intense speculation. Top-tier choreographers and performance directors from Korea and beyond are widely expected to join.
The production team shared their confidence: "If the 'Street' series' Mega Crew missions showcased directors' prowess and stage scale, then 'SDF' will be the definitive edition—serving up legendary stages every single week."
With Mnet playing another bold card, all eyes are on the behind-the-scenes powerhouses poised to wage this new kind of war.
