Shocking final showdown: HYBE and Geffen Records are entering the home stretch to launch their second global girl group, with Ayana and Sakura facing off for the last spot ahead of the May 12 finale in Los Angeles.
On episode 11 of HYBE x Geffen Records’ audition program World Scout: The Final Piece, which aired on the 5th, Japanese contestants Ayana and Sakura advanced to the grand finale.
The two are now preparing for the decisive stage on the 12th. Ayana will perform the brand-new track ‘WE RIDE,’ while Sakura will showcase the new single ‘PARTY b4 the PARTY.’ Already-confirmed debut members Emily (U.S.), Lexie (Sweden), and Samara (Brazil) will join them, forming teams with Ayana and Sakura for the live finale at the Fonda Theatre in LA.
Mitra Darab, head of HYBE x Geffen Records, praised Ayana as “the most consistent and the most confident contestant.” HxG chief creative Son Sung-duk added, “Even compared to the three debut members, her skills don’t fall short. If she locks in on her own unique charm, she could become the ultimate final piece.”
Sakura received accolades from HxG senior creative producer In Jeong-hyeon, who said, “The fact that you’ve grown this much in such a short time is something you should be proud of.” Son Sung-duk also commended her, saying, “She’s shown growth that exceeded our expectations and imagination.”
