After joining the 10-million club with the film The King's Warden, Park Ji Hoon — long praised since debut for his "straight-out-of-a-webtoon" visuals — just proved that nickname all over again with his latest project, firing up fan expectations.

Park Ji Hoon has repeatedly been cast in dramas based on webtoons, stunning viewers with an uncanny sync to his characters that pulls audiences in deep.

In the 2020 KakaoTV original Love Revolution, he perfectly pulled off lead Gong Ju-young’s signature bowl cut. From the very moment he fell at first sight for his counterpart Wang Ja-rim (played by Lee Ruby), he charmed with playful, lovably cheeky energy — earning rave reviews across forums and social media for his spot-on portrayal. He then headlined Weak Hero Class 1 and 2, adapted from the webtoon of the same name, drawing acclaim as “Yeon Si-eun, made real,” and fueling a full-on syndrome. His razor-sharp charisma and chilling gaze — a stark contrast to his earlier boyish image — powered the series’ success.

Premiering on May 11, the TVING original The Legend of Kitchen Soldier once again put Park Ji Hoon at the center of buzz, showcasing the textbook definition of a “manhwa come-to-life” lead. Even before broadcast, anticipation soared — the original creator praised Park, saying he looked like he “ripped himself straight off the novel cover.”

Transforming completely into Private Kang Sung-jae — who wields a chef’s knife instead of a rifle and an apron instead of a bandolier — Park captivated viewers by pairing his signature boyish charm with intense acting. Reactions include, “Visuals like he just popped out of the webtoon,” and “He’s the very model of a growth-arc shonen protagonist.”

With every project, he amplifies what fans love about the source material, reshaping each story with his own color like a true chameleon — and all eyes are on what he conquers next.
