BIBI, the singer-actor behind the viral hit 'Bam Yang Gang,' shocked fans by candidly revealing how the song’s royalties are paid out — and which track actually became her real cash cow.
Recently, BIBI guested on chef Park Eun-young’s YouTube channel, asking her to recreate dishes from her favorite animated film Spirited Away. Park served unique-textured dumplings and mala ramen (a spicy Sichuan-style ramen), and the two chatted over the food.
When Park asked about the royalties for 'Bam Yang Gang,' BIBI gave an unexpected answer. "Song royalties don’t come to me," she explained, noting that they go to composer Jang Kiha. Despite the track’s mega-hit status and the massive earnings it likely generated, BIBI revealed that it doesn’t directly translate into income for her.
Instead, BIBI said her true steady earner is 'Nappeun X.' "By my standards, 'Nappeun X' has a much more direct meaning to me than 'Bam Yang Gang'," she shared, adding that the song’s long-lasting popularity has given her real strength. Since it channels raw, unfiltered emotions, she believes it offered a sense of release for people frustrated by everyday life.
She also broke down the title of her new track 'BUMPA.' "The phrase comes from Jamaican slang," BIBI said, explaining that while finessing the hook, she fell for the word’s rhythm and made it the title. On set, she even improvised a quick challenge dance, keeping the vibe carefree and fun.
