Highlighter is a must-have in any makeup routine.

But choosing the wrong shade can make your face look patchy. So how do you keep it natural yet sculpted?

Go lighter than your skin!

1. First, pick a highlighter shade that matches your skin tone family. Just like foundation, shade selection matters.

2. Your highlighter should be about one tone lighter than your skin. For example, if you're using the Cezanne Pearl Glow Highlight, a paler, white-cast shade like No. 3 'Aurora Mint' works well on lighter complexions around the Korean 19 range.

3. For mid-light tones around 21, try pink-leaning shades like No. 1 'Champagne Beige' or No. 4 'Shell Pink'. For deeper tones around 23 and up, beige shades such as No. 2 'Rose Beige' are recommended.

Tap it on inner corners and cheeks, too!

1. Once you've chosen the right color, apply the highlighter evenly. Gently hit the bridge of the nose, tops of the cheekbones, and any area that needs dimension.

2. Highlighters with noticeable color payoff can double as blush, or be dabbed on the inner corners of the eyes for a quick pop.

Used correctly, highlighter brings life and dimension to your face.

Whatever your skin tone, pick a shade that suits you and blend for a smooth, seamless glow.
