The feel-good musical that made audiences both laugh and cry this spring wrapped its run to roaring applause.
After its final performance on May 31, the musical Neoreul Wihan Geulja — inspired by the true story of Italian inventor Pellegrino Turri, who created a mechanical typewriter — bid farewell amid fans' heartfelt cheers. Centered on the relationships among three characters — the quirky inventor Turi, aspiring writer Carolina, and bestselling author Domenico — the show delicately and warmly explores friendship, love, and personal growth, earning glowing reviews.
Another major draw was how each actor brought a distinct charm to their role, enriching the production from every angle.
Leading the story as the offbeat Turi, who builds inventions for Carolina, were Yoon Seung-woo, Lee Jin-woo, Kang Byung-hoon, and Yoon Yeo-baek. The bright and confident Carolina — whose presence made audiences break into big smiles — was played by Park Sae-him, Sung Min-jae, and Cho Young-hwa. Meanwhile, the steadfast bestselling author Domenico, who quietly protects and cheers on Carolina, was portrayed by Im Byul, Choi Min-woo, and Park Jwa-heon. Adding to the buzz, fans celebrated a double dose of happy news during the run as Yoon Seung-woo and Choi Min-woo announced their weddings.
Audiences raved: "The story is gentle and cute — like a fairy tale," "A show that makes your heart feel warm and fuzzy," "So refreshing and youthful, just what Daehangno needed," and "It has cozy laughs and heartfelt emotion — I hope it comes back soon."
With stylish stage design and emotion-stirring details that amplified its charm, Neoreul Wihan Geulja proved the rare power of a '100% pure healing' production in Daehangno, Seoul's theater district, leaving a lingering glow in audiences' hearts.
