Shocking escalation: Singer MC Mong vowed aggressive legal action just hours before MBC’s current affairs program PD Note was set to air, while Onehundred chairman Cha Gawon moved to legally block the broadcast, ramping up tensions even before the episode drops.
On the 2nd, MC Mong posted a lengthy statement on his social media, declaring he would “fight with my honor on the line” and announcing plans for large-scale litigation against MBC. Referring to past coverage about him, he claimed, “They definitively reported something else about money I repaid 18 years ago for a friend’s shopping mall investment.” He added that he would pursue “a lawsuit in the KRW 100 billion range” to hold them accountable for what he says “robbed me of the last 18 years.”
MC Mong also pushed back on suspicions tied to Onehundred’s finances. Citing monetary transactions with someone connected to Cha Gawon, he insisted related records remain in his bank accounts. He warned that if the show airs speculative claims that advance payments were used for gambling, those responsible would be held to account.
Tonight’s PD Note episode, teased under the title ‘MC Mong and the Chairman’s K-Pop Trade Secrets,’ was set to explore multiple allegations surrounding MC Mong, Cha Gawon, and the Onehundred label.
Directly addressing the episode title, MC Mong claimed, “There was not a single settlement issue up until the day I left the company.” He argued that any artist settlement disputes arose only after he stepped away from company matters, distancing himself from alleged accounting problems.
Cha Gawon’s side also launched legal action ahead of airtime, filing for an injunction against MBC to prohibit the use of his likeness and voice. The filing reportedly asks the court to stop any use of his image, voice, or name in broadcasts or press photos without consent.
They further took issue with an advance-released interview clip from PD Note that showed Cha saying, “If I open my mouth, this entire entertainment scene could be turned upside down.” His side claims the footage was shot without consent and edited with malicious intent.
A court hearing on the injunction request is reportedly underway. Depending on the outcome, both whether tonight’s PD Note airs and what it contains could change.
Previously, Cha Gawon and Onehundred announced they were monitoring and collecting evidence against malicious slander, false information, and defamatory posts and comments, vowing strong legal action.
Onehundred is an entertainment company co-founded by Cha Gawon and MC Mong, overseeing labels including Big Planet Made Entertainment, INB100, and Million Market. Recently, alleged artist settlement issues and reported departures have drawn intense attention across the industry.
With MC Mong and Cha Gawon both taking a hard line right before PD Note airs, the controversy around Onehundred is already turning into a courtroom battle even before broadcast.
