Actor Kim Soo Hyun’s side has released the police investigation results regarding multiple criminal complaints filed against YouTube channel Hoverlab figure Kim Seui.
On the 5th, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency Gold Medalist announced, "We are sharing the police investigation results related to several criminal complaints we and Mr. Kim Soo Hyun filed against Hoverlab’s Kim Seui," adding, "Police recognized extensive charges, including violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation by spreading false information), violations of the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (distribution of footage taken with cameras, etc.), attempted coercion, and intimidation. Considering the gravity of the case, police have referred suspect Kim Seui to the prosecution in custody."
The agency continued, "Although he was not a direct party to the incident and chose to wait for due process, we deeply thank those who spoke up on Mr. Kim Soo Hyun’s behalf for a long time," and added, "We also thank those who investigated tirelessly to uncover the truth and everyone who helped ensure the facts of the case became widely known."
They also expressed gratitude to investigative and judicial authorities, as well as fans who offered support. "We extend our sincere thanks to the investigative authorities, who conducted their work based on evidence and facts behind the scenes to reveal the truth, and to the judiciary, which made a fair and strict decision regarding the suspect’s custody," the agency said. Earlier, on the 4th, Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station urgently transferred the detained Kim Seui to the prosecution on charges of malicious defamation and spreading false rumors about actor Kim Soo Hyun.
Kim, the channel figure, is accused of fabricating a malicious false narrative that Kim Soo Hyun had an inappropriate relationship in the past with the late Kim Sae-ron, who was then a minor, and of claiming that pressure from Kim Soo Hyun’s side to repay alleged debts drove her to a tragic death—then indiscriminately spreading those allegations via YouTube broadcasts, among others. In particular, he allegedly abused artificial intelligence deep-voice technology to manipulate the deceased’s voice to fake an interview format, committing extremely egregious sexual-crime and defamation acts.
