Actor Lee Ki-taek is joining KBS2 variety show 2 Days & 1 Night Season 4 (hereafter "2 Days & 1 Night") as the new youngest member, marking his first-ever variety show appearance.
On June 4, the "2 Days & 1 Night" team dropped a teaser on the program’s official YouTube channel, showing Lee Ki-taek meeting the crew for the very first time.
"'2 Days & 1 Night' is a national favorite, so I really wanted to become a member," Lee said, sharing his excitement about joining a show he has watched since childhood. He conveyed both nerves and anticipation as he stepped in as the newest castmate.
Introducing himself, Lee also revealed some unexpectedly lovable clumsiness. Admitting he isn’t confident in singing or dancing, he added candidly, "I’m not especially athletic, but I’m not totally hopeless either." Mentioning current member Lee Joon, he said, "He’s in incredible shape," and when the producers asked, "Do you think you can’t beat him?" he immediately agreed, making everyone laugh.
Lee also confessed worries about variety. "I’m not the type who tells funny stories well, so I’m nervous," he said. Yet the teaser highlights his towering 185 cm frame contrasted with awkward, endearing moments, a scene of Moon Se-yoon giving him a piggyback ride, and some dad-joke flair—hinting at the birth of a fresh variety persona.
Recently, Lee gained attention in the drama 'Efficient Matchmaking for Singles' for playing a straightforward younger man. With his jump into variety shows, viewers are eager to see how Lee Ki-taek will gel with the existing cast.
Previously, actor Yoo Seon-ho—who served as the maknae—departed the show. In his place, Lee Ki-taek and comedian Lee Yong-jin have joined, rebuilding the lineup into six members: Kim Jong-min, Moon Se-yoon, Lee Joon, Dindin, Lee Yong-jin, and Lee Ki-taek.
"2 Days & 1 Night" with its new members airs every Sunday at 6:10 p.m.
