Actor Namkoong Min’s new drama is teasing the birth of a mind-bending, twist-packed crime thriller.
On the 16th, KBS 2TV’s new Saturday-Sunday miniseries Consummation of marriage dropped a second teaser that completely seized prospective viewers’ attention.
The released clip races through relentless, high-stakes moments, powered by heavyweight performances from Namkoong Min, Kim Dae-myung, Lee Seol, and Lee Sang-hee.
In one scene, Tae-joo (played by Namkoong Min) fires into the air and screams, "Don’t come any closer," instantly spiking the tension. Then Man-hee (Kim Dae-myung) chills viewers with the line, "There’s a limit to what a person can endure. I’ve reached mine," deepening the mystery.
Especially striking is a shocking news voice-over that plays as Tae-joo desperately flees from multiple police cars: "Kang Tae-joo, a wanted fugitive who escaped during police questioning on charges of abducting his wife and soliciting murder." His grim, do-or-die fight to get his wife back signals the arrival of a top-tier, well-made K-genre thriller.
After the teaser dropped, online communities and social media lit up with reactions like "Namkoong Min’s signature genre piece already screams ratings hit," "The teaser alone feels terrifying and overwhelming," and "Their acting synergy gave me chills."
Meanwhile, Consummation of marriage tells the story of a man who wages a desperate war against criminals to save his wife, who was kidnapped right before their divorce. The series premieres July 4 at 9:20 p.m. on KBS 2TV and will also be available on Wavve and Disney+ right after broadcast.
