Actor Song Hye-kyo is parting ways with her agency UAA after 14 years.
On the 26th, UAA announced via an official press release that "our exclusive contract with Song Hye-kyo recently expired." They added, "After a long time of mutual trust, UAA and Song Hye-kyo have decided to conclude our journey together and cheer on each other's futures."
UAA also expressed gratitude for their time with the star. The agency said, "Over many years with UAA, Song Hye-kyo received immense love not only in Korea but across Asia and around the world," adding, "The time we spent together will remain a happy and joyful memory."
UAA closed by saying, "We ask fans to continue giving Song Hye-kyo, who is standing at a new starting line, your warm interest, encouragement, and love," voicing support for her next chapter.
Song Hye-kyo's relationship with UAA began in 2012. She signed her first exclusive contract with the agency founded by CEO Park Hyun-jung and became its first rostered actor. Since then, as one of UAA's leading stars, she has maintained steady influence both at home and abroad.
After wrapping up a 14-year partnership, Song Hye-kyo is preparing her next move. Reports say she plans to establish a one-person agency and go independent. Given how long she stayed with one label, this split is expected to mark a major turning point in her career.
Meanwhile, Song Hye-kyo is set to premiere the Netflix series Tantara in the second half of this year.
