Shocking ratings surge: Episode 2 of KBS2’s Saturday-Sunday miniseries The Husband peaked at 7.2% viewership per minute and averaged 6.4% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea on the broadcast aired on the 5th—up 2 percentage points from the premiere and setting a new personal best.

In this episode, Kang Tae-joo (Namgoong Min) gets caught handing counterfeit cash to kidnapper Noh Man-hee (Kim Dae-myung) and is threatened to come up with 2 billion won within two hours. Desperate, Tae-joo turns to his in-laws. While he and his father-in-law Go Dong-chan (Jang Gwang) head to the bank to raise the money, things spiral when, despite Tae-joo’s plea to keep the police out, his mother-in-law Choi Suk-young (Oh Min-ae) calls them in.

Meanwhile, Tae-joo’s wife Go Se-yoon (Lee Seol), who was being held captive and trying to escape, is brutally beaten by Noh Man-hee and loses consciousness. To make matters worse, an old video surfaces of Tae-joo saying, “Get rid of my wife,” leading to his arrest on charges of kidnapping and soliciting murder. Then a mysterious man, Lee Soo-hyung (Park Byung-eun), appears and declares, “I’m the only one who knows you didn’t kidnap your wife,” cranking up anticipation for what comes next.

After the broadcast, netizens reacted divisively: “Agent Kim Reactivated airing in the same slot is just untouchable,” “He can’t beat So Ji-sub,” “It’s fun just watching the acting,” and “I hope Namgoong Min wins the Grand Prize (Daesang).”
