Shocking buzz and mixed reactions erupted worldwide as Netflix unveiled the teaser poster and trailer for the rom-com ‘This Damn Love’ starring Jung Hae-in and Ha-young, with viewers calling the visuals “AI-like” and criticizing the heavy compositing—while the plot teases a high-stakes cohabitation between an amnesiac prosecutor and a self-proclaimed boyfriend, premiering August 7.
On the 10th, the Netflix series This Damn Love released its teaser poster and trailer.
The materials hint at a gripping first encounter—and a dramatic twist—between Jang Tae-ha (played by Jung Hae-in), who wears an enigmatic smile, and Go Eun-sae (played by Ha-young), who appears to have lost all her memories. Arriving in a sports car, Go Eun-sae confidently introduces herself: “I’m Ko Ji-won, a prosecutor with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Anti-Corruption Investigation Division.” But the tone quickly shifts to a frantic chase and the chilling appearance of crime boss Baek Sang-gil (played by Heo Sung-tae), cranking up the tension.
When Go Eun-sae wakes up in the hospital with amnesia, Jang Tae-ha shows up and says, “You don’t know who I am? I’m your boyfriend,” kicking off an unexpected turn of events. Jang Tae-ha claims Go Eun-sae had relentlessly pursued him, but with no memories to rely on, she can’t bring herself to believe him. Her bewildered line—“So, in short, I’m totally screwed, huh?”—adds a burst of comedy.
Online, reactions are divisive: “Ha-young’s rom-com acting is teetering on over-the-top,” “Was this made with AI?” and “Look at that compositing quality,” among many others.
This Damn Love is a romantic comedy about the sweet-and-chaotic cohabitation of amnesiac prosecutor Go Eun-sae and boxing coach Jang Tae-ha, who insists he’s her boyfriend. The series premieres on August 7.
