NewJeans just notched a viral streaming milestone on Spotify, even amid a growing plagiarism controversy.

According to Spotify on the 12th, “Right Now,” a track from NewJeans’ Japan debut single “Supernatural,” surpassed 100 million cumulative streams as of the 10th.

With “Right Now” becoming the group’s 16th song to hit the 100-million mark, every track included on all of NewJeans’ releases to date has now joined Spotify’s nine-figure streaming club. The group’s total cumulative streams on the platform have topped 7.8 billion.

“Right Now” layers NewJeans’ breezy vocals over a drum-and-bass beat, delivering a vibe that’s both upbeat and soothing. The music video, highlighted by a collaboration with contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and its quirky characters, offered fans fresh visuals and sparked a huge reaction worldwide.

Meanwhile, NewJeans recently faced plagiarism allegations over the track “How Sweet.” Four U.S.-based producer-singer-songwriters claimed the song’s topline was used without permission from an unreleased work of theirs and reportedly filed a copyright infringement lawsuit.
