Veteran actor Shin Goo opened up about the aching longing he still feels for his wife, who passed away last year.

On the 13th, a video featuring Shin Goo, Cho Dal-hwan, and Lee Sang-yoon was uploaded to the YouTube channel Zzanhan Bro. The three are currently performing together in the play The Merchant of Venice.

In the video, Lee Sang-yoon said, "After teacher lost his wife last year and was living alone, his home felt very empty." He added that they helped rearrange the house to ease Shin Goo’s loneliness and often drop by to spend time with him.

When host Shin Dong-yeob carefully offered his condolences, Shin Goo recalled, "I never imagined I’d be the one left behind," and, "When it happened so suddenly, I felt completely lost." He continued, "Even now it doesn’t quite feel real that my wife is gone. I live thinking, 'Maybe she just stepped out for a bit,'" adding, "When I walk into the house, out of habit I still say, 'I’m home.'" His candid confession about the irreplaceable absence of a partner of over 50 years left Cho Dal-hwan and Lee Sang-yoon in tears.

Shin Goo added calmly, "But I can’t just follow her in death. I still have to live, so I endured—and when you endure, you find you can keep enduring," and, "It’s something no one can avoid. That’s life, I suppose."

Shin Goo married his wife in 1974, and they have one son.
