In a twist that left viewers in tears yet again, actor Chae Jong-hyeop ultimately walked away from Lee Sung-kyung’s side.
Episode 11 of MBC’s Friday–Saturday drama In Your Radiant Season (hereafter 'In Your Radiant Season'), aired on the 28th, delivered a shocking fallout as Song Haran (Lee Sung-kyung) and Sun Woo-chan (Chae Jong-hyeop) saw their relationship completely collapse after the truth finally surfaced. Woo-chan was devastated by Cha Su-jin’s (Lee Joo-yeon) claim that he triggered the explosion seven years ago—and then vanished without a trace.
That day, Haran learned that Woo-chan, who was Kang Hyuk-chan’s (Kwon Do-hyung) roommate seven years prior, had been pretending to be Hyuk-chan while exchanging messages with her. When it also came out that Woo-chan had known about her for years but kept it hidden, Haran fell into a profound sense of betrayal.
Consumed by rage, Haran cried out, "Who was the Sun Woo-chan I trusted?" Woo-chan tried to explain everything, but could only repeat, "I’m sorry," unable to finish his words. Watching two people who had been each other’s salvation crumble in the face of truth left a deep ache in living rooms everywhere. Still, Woo-chan didn’t give up—he handed over a drawing pad filled with seven years of memories to convey his sincerity. But Haran turned away, saying, "Even if I learn everything, nothing will change." Her frozen demeanor and Woo-chan’s anguished gaze pierced viewers’ hearts. Afterward, through Su-jin, Woo-chan finally faced the truth about the explosion he’d refused to confront: during a scuffle with Hyuk-chan in the past, a discarded waste-fluid container fell and led to the blast—meaning he was the cause. Crushed by guilt, he decided he could no longer stay by Haran’s side, leaving only the chilling message, "Trial period over," before disappearing. In the final moments, Haran tearfully longed for Woo-chan as her narration echoed, "The seasons of life do not keep their order."
Right after the broadcast, online communities and social media lit up with reactions like, "Every episode makes me cry," "I can’t believe there’s only one episode left," and "My tear ducts are running dry."
Meanwhile, the finale of 'In Your Radiant Season' airs Friday, April 3, at 9:50 p.m.
