Known for bold transformations with every role, Lee Kwang-soo has stunned viewers yet again with a shocking new look.

On April 7, Disney+ unveiled character stills of Lee Kwang-soo as Director Park in its original series Goldland.

Goldland is a survival thriller centered on a stolen stash of gold bars worth 150 billion KRW. Hee-joo (played by Park Bo-young) fights to claim the gold, while Lee Kwang-soo plays Director Park, who relentlessly hunts her down to recover the missing bullion—pushing desire to its extreme.

Director Park is like a runaway train, growing more vicious and unhinged as time passes. Driven by greed, he throws everything away, and his relentless pursuit amplifies the showdown with fugitive Hee-joo, dialing up the tension throughout.

The newly released stills reveal a side of Lee Kwang-soo we have never seen—piercing eyes and a deep scar that completely subvert his previous image. The detailed styling and character design were finalized through close collaboration with director Kim Sung-hoon, and various gold props—including tooth gems—were used to visualize the character’s obsession.

Lee Kwang-soo said, "I wore so much makeup that even I could barely recognize myself," adding, "As the story heads into the latter half and the incidents pile up, I wanted the character’s shifting appearance to reflect his growing desire." He continued, "I was captivated by the tight storytelling and the script’s constant twists and turns, and I really wanted to be part of it."

Director Kim Sung-hoon explained, "I wanted to present Lee Kwang-soo exactly as he is," and added, "I aimed to portray someone who, once consumed by desire, barrels forward like an out-of-control freight train." He also teased, "With his distinct physique and action, he’ll showcase the ultimate in villainy as the project’s top antagonist."

Meanwhile, Goldland will premiere on the 29th, with two episodes released weekly for a total of 10 episodes.
