Shinhwa member Jun Jin’s wife, Ryu Yi-seo, has drawn attention after openly sharing her journey to conceive through IVF (in vitro fertilization).
On the 9th, a video on Ryu Yi-seo’s YouTube channel showed the couple visiting an OB-GYN for checkups as they officially began preparing for pregnancy. In the video, Ryu started her day with morning stretches, then made a health smoothie with avocado, blueberries, banana, and beets, showing meticulous self-care. “I’m preparing for IVF, so I’m focusing on foods known to support blood flow,” she explained. She also consistently takes various supplements, including inositol and folic acid, to support her efforts.
Later, the couple consulted a fertility specialist. The doctor shared an encouraging assessment, saying Ryu’s ovarian function is “exceptionally good for someone her age.” Although her inflammation markers were somewhat elevated, the doctor added that her core health indicators were all within the normal range, offering reassurance.
The two are currently undergoing IVF. A previous attempt did not proceed to transfer because the embryos failed to pass preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A). As a result, they plan to try another short-protocol egg retrieval. The specialist explained, “If we secure good embryos this time, transfer could be possible around mid-May, and the gestational sac could be confirmed about five weeks later,” adding that “delivery would be expected early next year.”
During the consultation, Jun Jin couldn’t hide his excitement, asking, “Do you have a feeling whether it’ll be a boy or a girl?” When the specialist replied, “I have a feeling it’ll be a girl,” he beamed. “Just imagining it feels surreal,” Jun Jin said, sharing his overwhelming emotions.
Ryu Yi-seo also vowed, “I’ll keep a more regular routine and manage my health carefully,” reaffirming her determination to welcome a baby.
The couple married in 2020 and have since shared their daily lives through various TV and variety shows. Recently, Ryu launched her YouTube channel, where she continues to document her pregnancy preparations and connect with fans.
