The drama that sparked buzz from the planning stage with its unapologetically provocative themes and daring plot has finally been unveiled.

On the 16th, Netflix confirmed production of the new series Love Affair and announced a powerhouse cast: Lee Dong-wook, Jeon So-ni, Jung Yu-mi, and Lee Jong-won.

Love Affair follows four lives thrown into chaos after two strangers spend a night together on an unfamiliar trip. After a chance encounter, Ji-hoon (played by Lee Dong-wook) and Hu-gyeong (played by Jeon So-ni) return to Korea but can’t shake their fatal attraction, setting off fractures that drive the story.

Adding weight to the narrative, Jung Yu-mi plays Sun-hee, Ji-hoon’s wife, who confronts a shocking truth about her husband, capturing the character’s complex emotions with her signature nuance. Lee Jong-won portrays Sun-hee’s younger brother, Dae-hee, who becomes dangerously entangled with Hu-gyeong, ratcheting up the tension.

Notably, the project is helmed by director Mo Wan-il, acclaimed for the phenomenon-level hit The World of the Married and Netflix’s The Frog, both praised for meticulous psychological detail. With the return of Mo’s specialty—high-stakes affair melodramas—many already predict another bold, well-crafted shocker in the vein of The World of the Married.

Following the casting news, netizens reacted enthusiastically: “The lineup is insanely good,” “The couple visuals match so well that immersion will be off the charts,” and “All four leads look perfect together.”

Backed by a trusted creative team and a can’t-miss cast, Love Affair is set to premiere on Netflix for viewers around the world.
