On MBC’s variety show Radio Star, beatboxer Wing sparked major buzz with a standout performance and by revealing his special connections to G-Dragon and Park Bo-gum.

The April 15 broadcast of Radio Star featured Seo Hyun-chul, Jang Dong-min, Cha Ji-yeon, and Wing in an ‘Oh My GOD’ special. According to Nielsen Korea, the show ranked No. 1 in its time slot with a 3.3% rating, while Wing’s beatbox stage hit a 4.6% peak minute—the episode’s “Best 1 Minute”—drawing a heated response.

Discussing his signature track ‘Dopamine,’ Wing shared, “It’s surpassed 47 million views,” calling it “an unprecedented record for a solo beatbox audio track.” He added, “In the past, beatboxing was seen as just a party trick, but now it’s established as a music genre,” highlighting its elevated status.

The behind-the-scenes story of his collaboration with G-Dragon especially grabbed attention. “Right after ‘Dopamine’ went viral, I got a message. At first, I thought it was spam,” he began. “It was such a massive opportunity that it actually felt overwhelming. I even declined at first because I thought I was being brought in as a band session member—but that was a misunderstanding,” he explained. Wing later took the stage with G-Dragon: “He told me, ‘This stage is yours,’ and even put my name up on the stage,” he said, expressing his gratitude.

He also recalled an on-the-spot crisis during a concert. “While I was going up on the lift, I was told, ‘You need to fill three more minutes,’ so I improvised on the spot,” he said. “I didn’t know what to do, so I just went for it—and the crowd loved it.” After sharing the stage together, G-Dragon’s world tour even featured Wing through a hologram effect, surprising many.

Wing’s military-days connection also drew attention. While serving in the Navy as a “beatbox soldier,” he met Park Bo-gum, who joined as his junior shortly before Wing’s discharge. “Because of the senior-junior dynamic, I carefully called him to the practice room and performed beatboxing for him,” Wing recalled. “Park Bo-gum told me, ‘I can see how hard you’ve worked.’” He added, “Even after I was discharged, he contacted me first, and I got to greet his family too. He’s genuinely a warm person,” sharing a heartwarming story.

Wing then delivered a live performance of his hit ‘Dopamine’ in the studio, earning unanimous admiration.
