Actor Moon Geun Young has returned looking healthy after her past battle with illness, sharing candid updates and how she truly felt during that time.

At the end of the April 15 episode of the tvN variety show You Quiz on the Block, a teaser featuring Moon Geun Young aired — and fans are buzzing. Yoo Jae Suk welcomed her, saying, "Our forever Nation's Little Sister is back." Appearing with a bright smile, Moon joked, "In the meantime, I turned 40 — the 'My Little Bride' Nation's Little Sister," wittily introducing herself.

Moon calmly opened up about the rare condition she suffered in the past. Recalling how she was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome and rushed into emergency surgery during her 2017 stage run of Romeo and Juliet, she explained, "The golden hour had already passed, so tissue necrosis might have started." She added, "That's why I had to undergo surgery immediately," conveying the urgency of that moment.

She also confessed that she surprisingly felt relief in that crisis, saying, "I heard I even said, 'I'm glad I can finally rest now.'" Moon underwent a total of four surgeries and a long treatment period, and in 2024 she announced she had made a full recovery.

Moon spoke frankly about how she's changed since her battle with illness. "As I put some weight back on, I think my mind found more room to breathe," she said. "I want my 40s to be even more fun and exciting."

Debuting in the 1999 film On the Road, Moon has starred in films like A Tale of Two Sisters, My Little Bride, Innocent Steps, and The Throne, as well as dramas including Autumn in My Heart, The Last Empress, Painter of the Wind, and Cinderella's Sister. Most recently, she returned to the stage with the play Orphans, continuing her active career.
