After Ryu Seung-beom’s shocking exit, the retooled drama roars back for Season 2 with an expanded universe and deeper character arcs.

On the 17th, the Coupang Play original series Family planning Season 2 (hereafter 'Family planning 2') unveiled photos from its script reading, where director-writer Kim Jung-min and key cast members Doona Bae, Yoon-sik Baek, Byung-eun Park, Lomon, and Soo-hyun Lee gathered in one place.

The session crackled with energy as the returning Season 1 leads—who had already proved flawless chemistry—teamed up with new faces, delivering intense performances that created explosive synergy.

Season 1’s core cast—Doona Bae, Yoon-sik Baek, Lomon, and Soo-hyun Lee—once again unites as a 'family' at the center of the story. 'Brain hacker' mom Han Young-soo (played by Doona Bae) shows her trademark cool-headed leadership, while grandfather Baek Gang-seong (played by Yoon-sik Baek) continues to anchor the narrative with a commanding presence. Meanwhile, son Baek Ji-hoon (played by Lomon) and daughter Baek Ji-woo (played by Soo-hyun Lee) return more mature than ever, showcasing a tighter family bond. In particular, newcomer Byung-eun Park as uncle Baek Cheol-yong is set to become a crucial turning point that cranks up the tension.

Above all, heavyweight actors Park Ho-san, Jeon Hye-jin, Kang Ki-young, Baek Joo-hee, Shin Sung-min, and Lee Joong-ok join the lineup, forming a massive cartel of villains and driving an unpredictable, spectacle-filled narrative.

Known for its distinctive world-building, hard-hitting plot, and razor-sharp black comedy, 'Family planning 2'—which drew rave reviews from viewers at home and abroad—is slated to premiere in the second half of this year.
