Police have widened their investigation as additional allegations spread in the case of a man in his 30s, identified as A, who is accused of indecent assault against a female BJ (livestreamer). The fallout is growing because A is reportedly a family member of a well-known girl group idol.
According to the Hankook Ilbo on the 17th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul is investigating A and his acquaintance, B, on suspicion of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes following A’s arrest on indecent assault charges. The victim filed criminal complaints against both, and police have requested an arrest warrant for A.
The incident reportedly began on the 12th during an online broadcast event hosted by the woman. She had offered a meal date and selfies as prizes, and A won first place after submitting multiple entries. On the 14th, A met the woman at a restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, and then suggested moving to his home.
The woman repeatedly said she did not want any physical contact, and A allegedly persuaded her to accompany him after promising, "I absolutely won’t touch you." However, she claims he later changed his behavior and made inappropriate physical contact. During questioning, A acknowledged there was contact but denied using force.
On top of that, there are now blackmail allegations tied to the distribution of photos after the incident. The woman says nude/partial body photos she had sent were shared with a third party, and that she then received threats from an overseas messenger account saying, "The photos will be released soon," along with taunts urging her to "respond before it spreads online."
The victim suspects the account may belong to B, raising the possibility of outside collusion even while A was in custody. Police are also verifying these claims.
At the time of the incident, the woman was reportedly unable to leave the residence; she took refuge in a bathroom and messaged an acquaintance for help. Messages secured from that time allegedly read, "He won’t let me leave" and "Please save me." She has since received hospital treatment for severe psychological trauma.
Amid this, claims have surfaced that A was involved in a similar controversy in the past. A post alleging illegal filming briefly appeared on an online community last year before being deleted, fueling further suspicion.
Police plan to question A and B in detail about the exact sequence of events and any possible collusion, after which they will decide on additional charges and custody measures.
