A man in his 30s who broke into comedian Park Na-rae's home and stole valuables worth tens of millions of won has had his prison sentence finalized.

According to the legal community on the 20th, the Supreme Court's First Division (Presiding Justice Shin Sook-hee) dismissed the final appeal on April 16 and upheld the lower court's ruling that sentenced defendant A to two years in prison on charges of theft and nighttime trespassing into a residence. With this, A's prison term is now final.

A was indicted for sneaking into Park Na-rae's residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in April last year and fleeing after stealing valuables worth tens of millions of won. During the investigation, it was also revealed that A tried to dispose of part of the stolen goods as contraband.

At the first trial last September, the court said, "We take into account that the defendant admitted the crime and returned the stolen items," but noted A's prior record for similar offenses and the large scale of damages, and handed down a two-year prison sentence.

The same judgment was reached at the second trial in February this year. The appellate court dismissed the appeal, stating, "The defendant reoffended during a suspended sentence period, and there are no special circumstances after the first trial that warrant changing the sentence."

Although A filed a final appeal after the second trial, the Supreme Court concluded the grounds for appeal did not fall within the legally acceptable scope and dismissed it, finalizing the conviction.

Meanwhile, Park Na-rae has halted all broadcasting activities amid allegations she received illegal medical procedures from an individual known as the so-called 'injection auntie' and controversy over alleged power abuse toward her manager.
