Actor Jang Keun Suk delivered both laughs and major relatability with his unfiltered candor, tackling everything from vicious comments to his dating life.
On the April 20 broadcast of the SBS variety show Unbelievable, Jang Keun Suk and Choi Daniel appeared as guests and dove into an honest, no-holds-barred talk. Jang revealed he recently launched a YouTube channel and laid bare his true feelings about the malicious comments surrounding him.
Jang recalled, "When I saw a comment saying, 'Aren't you doing YouTube because you're broke?', I was honestly pissed," adding, "So in the video I shot back right away, 'Want me to show you my bank account?'" He continued, "Comments nitpicking my looks like 'Your skin isn't what it used to be,' 'You look like an ajumma (middle‑aged woman),' or 'Your plastic surgery failed' do get under my skin."
While he tried to handle it all with his trademark humor, Jang confessed he was blindsided in the most unexpected situation. "I was in front of a tanghulu (candied fruit skewers) shop, and the elementary school kids there were so cute that I bought treats for all of them," he said. "But when the PD asked, 'Do you know who this hyung is?', no one knew." He added, "I quietly whispered next to them, 'It's Jang Keun Suk,' and the kids went, 'Huh? A small island?'" sending the set into laughter. He then joked that his English name has now become "Small Island."
Another hot topic was his love life. Jang said, "I'm not the type to lie when I'm dating. But I did get caught once for a meetup I just chose not to mention." He continued, "Back then, the other person told me, 'You can't be rehabilitated,' and even though it's been four years, I'm still shocked by that."
Debuting in 1993 as a child model, Jang Keun Suk has steadily remained active across dramas, films, and variety shows to this day.
