Former Jewelry member and singer Seo In-young will appear on tvN’s variety show You Quiz on the Block, candidly opening up about the wounds and regrets hidden behind her glamorous heyday.
On the 20th, the You Quiz on the Block team dropped Seo In-young’s teaser on its official YouTube channel. In the clip, Seo turned heads with her signature flashy style. When host Yoo Jae-suk noticed her long nail art and asked, “Is that trendy these days?”, she quipped, “I don’t know if it’s a trend — it’s my last lingering attachment to the material world,” drawing laughs.
She also reacted to news that her YouTube channel racked up 14 million views just two weeks after launch, saying, “Was I really that big?”, showcasing her enduring variety chops.
But the mood quickly turned serious. Recalling a painful period, Seo shared, “When I attempted an extreme choice, my mother was so shocked she even had an accident. Three months later, she passed away,” she said, breaking down in tears and unable to continue.
Seo also admitted to reckless spending at the height of her fame. Looking back on promotions for her hit song ‘Cinderella,’ she said, “I used to tell the boutique to bag everything from here to here without even trying anything on.” She continued, “I thought the money would keep coming in. My father showed me the ledger and said, ‘You’ve earned over 10 billion won.’ But it was already money I had spent,” shocking viewers.
“My dad said that with that money, he could have bought three buildings,” she confessed. “I realized how immature I really was.”
