A behind-the-scenes revelation that rapper-producer Zico effectively put a "no dating" order on BOYNEXTDOOR had everyone bursting into laughter.
On the April 20 broadcast of SBS variety Ani Geunde Jinjja!, comedian Lee Sang-jun, singer DAWN, and BOYNEXTDOOR member Myung Jaehyun appeared as guests and chatted under a 'Sooji’s Boarding House' concept.
At the shoot, a house rule that read "Absolutely No Dating" grabbed attention right from the start. Transforming into the boarding house owner, Lee Soo-ji asked, "Do you have a girlfriend?" Myung Jaehyun answered without hesitation, "No."
He added, "If I started dating, it wouldn’t just mean being banned from the boarding house—it would be a really big problem," sparking curiosity. When Tak Jae-hoon pressed, "Don’t you want to date?" he drew a firm line: "No."
When Lee Sang-min asked, "Do you still have a dating-ban clause these days?" Myung Jaehyun said, "There’s no such clause, but Zico…," trailing off and piquing interest.
Soon after, he explained, "Zico told us, 'I don’t want you to go through what I went through. I hope you only experience the good things.'" While not an official rule, it was practical advice from a senior artist and producer.
Tak Jae-hoon immediately cracked, "But you dated," sending the studio into laughter. He then doubled down with, "Doesn’t that mean what you went through was good?"
For context, Zico previously made headlines for publicly dating former AOA member Seolhyun. In 2016, both sides acknowledged that their relationship developed from being close colleagues. However, just over a month after going public, they announced their breakup, drawing intense attention.
