Singer Soyou, formerly of SISTAR, has spoken up directly about the rumors swirling around her. She candidly addressed everything from the once-viral dating speculation with Lim Young Woong to absurd eyewitness accounts, sharing how unfair and frustrating it all felt.

On April 22, Soyou appeared on the web variety show Amuteun Tteodeullo Watneunde. While discussing the topic of "rumors," she cleared up past claims about her one by one.

The first topic was the dating rumor with singer Lim Young Woong that surfaced in 2023. Soyou explained that they happened to run into each other at the airport, exchanged a quick greeting, and then went on with their separate schedules. Later, she went to a barbecue restaurant with staff members; the restaurant told her Lim Young Woong was there as well, but she did not go over to meet him.

Soyou said, "We had already said hello at the airport, and I felt it might make things awkward if I went, so I just passed by," adding, "We didn’t even run into each other that day." However, after the restaurant posted photos of both on social media and then deleted some of the posts, speculation intensified and snowballed into a dating rumor.

She continued, "I wanted to correct the misinformation right away, but the moment Lim Young Woong’s name came out of my mouth, I felt like it would blow up even more." She added, "Thankfully, the other side denied it first, and things settled down."

Soyou also brought up bizarre rumors that have followed her since debut. "I once heard a story that I drove past Gangnam Station in a Benz while smoking," she said, firmly adding, "It was complete nonsense." As for supposed club sightings, she clarified, "I can’t handle loud places, so I rarely go to clubs in the first place."

She revealed that she was especially hurt by a rumor that spread after she briefly attended a close senior’s birthday party and left early—claims that she had cursed out the senior. "I cried because it was so unfair. After that, I became scared of going to crowded places," she confessed. "It became one of the biggest reasons I ended up staying home most of the time."

Meanwhile, Soyou is set to return on the 29th with her new single 'Girl'.
