Director Yeon Sang-ho’s new film Colony has locked an IMAX release and unveiled its signature key art.
On the 27th, distributor Showbox announced the IMAX-format release of Colony, stating, "We’re bringing the film’s overwhelming scale, spectacular set pieces, and white-knuckle suspense to life with IMAX’s gigantic screens and thunderous sound." They added, "In particular, set against the sealed-off Dunguri Building, audiences will feel as if they’ve been thrust into the most extreme, claustrophobic conditions."
The newly revealed signature key art grabs attention with a striking image of the infected entangled together as they plummet downward. Their outstretched hands toward the survivors symbolically depict the outbreak and powerfully hint at the birth of a new species.
Also drawing attention are six characters who come face-to-face with the colony. Kwon Se-jeong (played by Jun Ji-hyun), the survivors’ leader, wears a resolute expression, while Seo Young-chul (Koo Kyo-hwan) stares up at the infected with a detached gaze. Choi Hyun-seok (Ji Chang-wook), spattered in blood and on edge; Gong Seol-hee (Shin Hyun-bin), driven by a strong sense of justice; Choi Hyun-hee (Kim Shin-rok), tense in her wheelchair; and Han Gyu-seong (Go Soo), steady amid the chaos — each character sparks curiosity about how they will cope under extreme pressure.
Meanwhile, Colony follows a group of survivors battling against infected beings that evolve in unpredictable ways inside a building locked down by a mysterious outbreak. The film opens in Korea on May 21.
