Director Yeon Sang-ho’s new zombie film 'Swarm' will be released in Korea on May 21.

The film has been invited to the Midnight Screening section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival. Set in a building under lockdown during a mysterious outbreak, it follows survivors facing infected individuals who evolve unpredictably.

Yeon Sang-ho, known for 'Train to Busan', returns with a new theatrical release in the genre.

On April 15, the trailer was first released through Variety. The footage shows intense transformation scenes and introduces a storyline involving a possible planned outbreak. Characters are seen confronting fast-moving infected, highlighting a different style of zombie depiction.

Early viewer reactions included comments noting the intensity of the performances and interest in the film’s direction.

The film also marks Jeon Ji-hyun’s return to the big screen and will premiere at Cannes starting May 12 before its domestic release.
