Comedian Yoo Se-yoon has revealed the untold story behind his buzzworthy 'MBC Entertainment Awards' win.
In the web variety show Zzanbro released on the 27th, UV members Yoo Se-yoon and Muzie appeared and delivered hilarious banter. Jeong Ho-cheol brought it up again, saying, "Huge congrats on your 'MBC Entertainment Awards' Top Excellence Award."
Describing the atmosphere at the ceremony, Yoo said, "Overall, it felt more subdued than usual," adding, "We all agreed we should try to liven up the room, even just a little." He explained that he, along with fellow Top Excellence Award nominees like Yang Se-hyung and Boom, naturally played off each other to raise the energy.
He also revealed that the moment when everyone reacted over-the-top during the nominee announcement was a pre-agreed team play for laughs. "I had no idea who the winner would be," Yoo said. "A camera director quietly told us, 'For this winner, you’ll need to buy a bit of time.' So we decided we’d all help whoever ended up going on stage."
In the end, Yoo Se-yoon was announced as the winner, and his colleagues amped up their reactions so his acceptance speech wouldn’t feel dull. "Comedians feel pressure about having to be funny on live TV," he said. "But that day, my friends really had my back," he added, expressing his gratitude.
He also addressed the moment he jokingly called the other nominees "losers." Yoo laughed, saying, "We’re close, so we can joke like that." He went on, "We even talked about doing a show together. At first, the title was 'Losers,' but it didn’t feel right, so we changed it." The variety show they’re set to appear in has been finalized under the title Choeususan, and it is scheduled to premiere on May 3.
