Actors Lee Jae-wook and Shin Ye-eun are set to bring a healing youth K-drama to living rooms.
On the 28th, ENA’s new Monday–Tuesday drama Doctor Some Boy unveiled a red-hot look at its script reading. Lee Jae-wook, Shin Ye-eun, Hong Min-gi, Lee Soo-kyung, Kim Yoon-woo, and more rising stars packed the room and lit up the atmosphere.
Doctor Some Boy is a medical human romance that follows Do Ji-ui (played by Lee Jae-wook), a public health doctor assigned to the notoriously shunned island of Pyeondong-do, and Yook Hari (played by Shin Ye-eun), a nurse with many secrets.
The newly released table-read scene cranked up anticipation with the cast’s passionate performances. Lee Jae-wook perfectly transformed into the unlucky public health doctor sent to the island. Though he avoids islands due to a trauma tied to the sea, his meeting with Yook Hari triggers a major change, and Lee drew viewers in by delicately portraying Do Ji-ui’s inner turmoil.
Shin Ye-eun delivered a powerful turn as nurse Yook Hari, who loves helping others. She vividly captured Hari’s complex yet candid emotions as she faces a new life dilemma after crossing paths with Do Ji-ui. Despite being their first time acting together, the two leads teased flawless chemistry, charmingly unfolding a relationship set on a remote island.
Hong Min-gi boosts the tension as Hyun Chi-yeon, an elite public health doctor who is calm and cold but wavers emotionally only in front of Yook Hari. Lee Soo-kyung plays Eom Jeong-seon, a Pyeondong-do native nurse who hides her fascination with the city behind a confident exterior. Kim Yoon-woo adds bounce as Yong Ju-cheon, a naive traditional-medicine public health doctor dubbed the “Pyeondong-do idol,” whose once-sunny life is shaken by a looming trial.
The production team shared, “It’s a story about people on an isolated island who heal their wounds and grow through one another,” adding, “We’ll deliver a healing drama woven with the youth cast’s friendship and love.”
Doctor Some Boy premieres Monday, June 1 at 10 p.m.
