EXID member-turned-singer-actress Ahn Hee-yeon, who is returning to the small screen, shared her determination.
Recently, KBS2 drama Love Is Coming unveiled footage from its table read. The video shows writer Lee Kyung-hee, director Hong Seok-gu, and lead actors Ha Seok-jin, Ahn Hee-yeon, Park Yu-na, and Bae Jung-nam gathering to sync up for the first time.
Love Is Coming is a "family recipe" drama about two people who bring a family fractured by past wounds back together and serve up the warmest feast of life.
Ahn Hee-yeon plays Han Gyu-rim, a woman who gave up on love for the sake of her family. At the script reading, she reportedly heightened immersion by delicately portraying the character’s steely resilience and the hidden scars beneath it.
Describing the project, Ahn said, "It features many different characters who often clash, but in the end they become a source of comfort to one another—a warm story." About Han Gyu-rim, she added, "She’s so strong and so full of love that it’s admirable," noting, "Just watching her makes you feel comforted and want to cheer her on."
She also explained why she chose the drama: "As the story progresses, Gyu-rim grows. I was truly glad and excited about the direction of that growth," she said. "For someone like Gyu-rim, I felt I could really give it my all, and that gave me the courage to take this on." She continued, "I share many similarities with Gyu-rim, but there are many differences, too. I’m working hard to bridge that gap—thinking about how Gyu-rim will take in the many events, and what the people around her will mean to her."
Her comeback is drawing attention as it follows a hiatus due to personal matters. Ahn had planned to marry psychiatrist Yang Jae-woong, with whom she is publicly dating, but they postponed the wedding after a patient death incident at the clinic he operated. As related controversy continued, Ahn also paused her activities.
After recently updating fans via social media, Ahn Hee-yeon is set to stand before the public again through acting, and all eyes are on what she will show in this project.
Meanwhile, Love Is Coming will premiere on July 25.
