In a shocking turn after CIX ended group activities seven years post-debut, member Seunghun announced he will halt his singing career—effectively retiring from the entertainment industry—leaving fans heartbroken.
Recently, Seunghun shared a handwritten letter to FIX (CIX fandom name) on his Instagram, opening up about his feelings. "Seven years went by so fast it hardly feels real. I was clumsy and lacking in many ways, but I am who I am today because fans supported me to the very end," he reflected, looking back on the journey. He also spoke candidly about internal changes he faced during promotions: "At some point, I lost peace of mind and spent days where I couldn’t see ahead, so I couldn’t approach fans like I used to. I’m sorry to the fans who waited."
He continued, declaring retirement: "After much thought, I’ve decided to set aside the title of singer for a while and live a new life as just one person off stage." Letting go of music he had pursued since childhood, he admitted, "It’s scary and unfamiliar, but it’s a decision I desperately need right now."
Seunghun thanked fans, saying, "The time I spent on stage was the brightest in my life, and fans were always at the center of it." He also expressed affection for fellow members BX, Yonghee, and Hyunsuk: "Thank you for enduring the happy and the hard moments with me."
Earlier, C9 Entertainment announced via the official fan cafe that CIX would conclude activities. Debuting in 2019, CIX wrapped up team promotions with the end of their exclusive contracts after about seven years. BX and Seunghun’s contracts ended on April 30, while Yonghee is preparing for military enlistment. Hyunsuk will focus on individual activities, including drama filming.
