Actor Lee Jae-wook is officially heading to the military on May 18, enlisting as active-duty Army after basic training — and he’s leaving fans with multiple projects to binge during his military hiatus.
According to his agency Log Studio on the 4th, Lee will enter a training center on the 18th, complete basic military training, and then serve as an active-duty soldier in the Army. To prevent safety issues from crowding on the day, there will be no official event at the enlistment site.
Even after enlistment, Lee plans to ease fans’ “military hiatus” blues with pre-filmed works. He recently wrapped filming for ENA’s new Monday–Tuesday drama Doctor On The Edge, which is gearing up to air, and his Netflix series Kkul-alba is also targeting a release in the second half of this year.
Born in 1998, Lee debuted in 2018 with the drama Memories of the Alhambra. He solidified his status as a leading actor through Extraordinary You and the Alchemy of Souls series. He has also appeared in a variety of genres, including Death’s Game, The Impossible Heir, Tangeum, and Last Summer, steadily building a strong filmography.
As the enlistment news broke, netizens reacted with a mix of excitement and regret, saying, “I thought he’d already served,” “It’s a shame we won’t see him doing promotions for the new projects,” and “Please finish your service healthy and jump right into your next role.”
Meanwhile, among his upcoming projects, Doctor On The Edge will be the first to meet the public, premiering on June 1.
