ASTRO member and actor Cha Eun-woo has officially become a Catholic after receiving baptism during his military service.

According to his agency Fantagio on July 1, Cha Eun-woo was baptized last month at a ceremony held on base during his service.

His baptismal name is "John the Apostle." Although Cha Eun-woo had not previously disclosed any specific religion, it is reported that he embraced Catholicism during his time in the military.

Cha Eun-woo enlisted as an active-duty soldier in the Army in July last year and is currently serving in the Army band.

Meanwhile, this January he was assessed additional income tax of about KRW 20 billion by the National Tax Service and, following a tax audit, fully paid approximately KRW 13 billion in additional taxes. At the time, he said, "I sincerely apologize for causing disappointment and confusion to many people, including my fans, due to the tax controversy," and apologized again.
