Actor Eun-bin Park is set to win over global viewers with a superpowered comic adventure dripping with end‑of‑the‑century 1999 nostalgia.

On the 12th, the Netflix original series Wonderfuls held its production press conference. Director In-sik Yoo attended alongside cast members Eun-bin Park, Dae-hoon Choi, and Seong-jae Lim to discuss the project. Lead actor Eun-woo Cha was absent due to his ongoing military service.

Wonderfuls follows a group of small-town misfits who accidentally gain superpowers in 1999 and struggle against a villain threatening world peace. Playing Chaeni, who can teleport, Eun-bin Park said, “Chaeni is the most simple-minded and unpredictable character I’ve ever played,” adding, “Seeing the world through Chaeni’s eyes was a refreshingly different kind of fun.”

Questions at the event zeroed in on the recent tax-evasion controversy surrounding Eun-woo Cha and whether his screen time would be edited. In the series, he plays Un-jeong, a mysterious civil servant with telekinesis who anchors the story.

Director In-sik Yoo took a cautious stance: “News of the controversy reached us via articles when editing and post-production were almost finished.” He continued, “This project has long been a dream of mine, and countless staff poured blood, sweat, and tears into it. We proceeded with post-production with the overall completeness of the show as the top priority,” confirming that Eun-woo Cha’s footage remains intact without cuts.

Eun-bin Park also emphasized the team’s unity. “From the preparation stage, the director focused most on building the right team,” she said. “Because this result is the sum of everyone’s best efforts, we hope that sincerity reaches viewers.”

Blending Y2K nostalgia with a superpower twist—and facing an unexpected cast controversy—Wonderfuls is poised to see whether it can truly capture viewers’ hearts when it premieres worldwide at 5 p.m. on May 15.
