Shocking new pairing: MONSTA X’s Hyungwon and actor Lee Min-ki will join forces as grim reapers in the same project.
On the 13th, K-pop short-form platform Kitz announced that the two will star in Jeoseungsaja Saengmyeong-yeonjang Project.
The human black comedy follows a by-the-book rookie grim reaper and a rule-breaking senior who meddle with forbidden life extension — and the chaos that ensues.
In the drama, Lee Min-ki plays Gangrim, a top performer who constantly breaks the rules, while Hyungwon appears as Junho, a stickler for principles who treats death strictly as part of the job. After meeting Gangrim, Junho’s convictions begin to shake, and as Gangrim watches Junho, he too gets swept up in unexpected events.
Jeoseungsaja Saengmyeong-yeonjang Project is planned as a multi-format venture spanning film, mid-form, and short-form, producing a single story in various lengths and formats to meet shifting content consumption habits.
Following the casting news, reactions poured in: “unreal visuals,” “where do you even find grim reapers this handsome,” and “an unexpected combo,” among many others.
Meanwhile, Jeoseungsaja Saengmyeong-yeonjang Project is slated for release in the second half of 2026.
