A large-scale training program aimed at discovering and developing global K-pop talent kicked off with a high-stakes level test — and the trainees sparked a flurry of reactions from the judges.
The intensive incubating program for aspiring K-pop artists, 'Global Casting Project (GCP) Vol.3', officially opened on the 20th.
On the first day of camp, orientation and individual level tests were held at a venue in Namyangju. After long flights into Seoul, participants shook off their fatigue as their eyes lit up hearing about the tough training curriculum ahead.
Even among the crowd chasing the K-pop idol dream, several trainees stood out during the level test.
American trainee Yua chose 'Rude!' by Hearts2Hearts and delivered a confident performance. One judge praised, saying, "Your Korean pronunciation needs a bit more practice, but your vocals, dance, and confidence were great." Bora, who drew attention with a powerful rap, selected Miyao’s 'BURNING UP'. Hailing from Spain, she impressed with ear-catching flow and crisp diction. YLam from Vietnam captivated with rich, resonant vocals.
From the 21st, full-scale training with professional coaches begins. Dance trainer Lee Sera previously worked on A2K and the Nizi Project, and has handled choreography activities for TWICE, ITZY, Park Bom, and Wonder Girls. The vocal lineup is equally stacked, including a Korea National University of Arts vocal professor, leading entertainment company vocal trainers, and instructors invited by multiple global K-pop academies.
Running for about two weeks through the 31st, GCP Vol.3 drew explosive interest even before it launched. According to K-LAB, elite prospects dreaming of K-pop stardom have converged on Seoul from a wide range of countries — including the United States, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, as well as the United Kingdom, Spain, and Poland.
