MBC’s Friday-Saturday K-Drama Perfect Crown, engulfed in a historical distortion controversy, has decided to delete the disputed scene.
On the 22nd, an MBC representative told multiple outlets that the coronation scene that closed episode 11 of Perfect Crown "will be removed."
They added that it could take a few days for the change to be reflected across all platforms.
The series recently faced intense backlash over alleged historical distortion. In episode 11, the king wears a 'guryu myeonryugwan' ceremonial crown with beaded veils, and officials shout 'Cheonse' ('ten thousand years') — imagery critics slammed as evoking a tributary state. In response, the production team announced the scene would be deleted and issued an apology. Lead actors IU and Byun Woo-seok also posted personal apologies, and both the crew and the writer apologized officially.
After initially applying temporary fixes — tweaking some subtitles and audio — the team is now taking the drastic step of removing the segment entirely.
