Comedian Lee Kyung Kyu personally addressed the swirling “health scare” rumors, quashing the controversy with a firm explanation.
Appearing on the YouTube channel Kim Gookjin & Kim Yongman's Road, Lee opened up about the speculation surrounding his condition. Recalling a past golf round, he said, "My throat wasn’t in great shape during the back nine, and people around me even asked if it was a stroke."
He pushed back, clarifying, "It wasn’t slurred speech — my voice was hoarse because I was angry," expressing his frustration over the misunderstanding. Co-host Kim Yongman, who was there at the time, added, "After long practice the previous day and even that morning, his early performance was shaky, emotions ran high, and that’s why his voice went hoarse."
Lee emphasized it was a simple mix-up: "I had been shouting a lot, so my words didn’t come out smoothly."
Earlier, some viewers grew worried after noticing Lee’s slightly slurred pronunciation and a tired look in another video. As his past history of a myocardial infarction and stent procedure resurfaced, the health rumors spread rapidly.
Debuting in 1981, Lee Kyung Kyu has remained active for over 40 years across television and YouTube, continuing his steady presence in the industry.
