Actress Hwang Jung-eum is going viral for a brutally honest look at life after divorce, opening up about her daily routine and candid thoughts with down-to-earth charm.
On May 26, a new video on Hwang Jung-eum’s YouTube channel captured her everyday life at home. Walking viewers through different corners of her house, she shared relatable details — like her well-worn red and green chairs. “They’ve got to be 10 to 15 years old,” she said, explaining they’ve been with her since newlywed days. When staff asked why she hasn’t decluttered them, she laughed: “They’re just too comfy, and they were expensive, so I can’t toss them easily.”
The kitchen was just as real. Explaining why there are three refrigerators, she said, “My mom keeps stocking up on food for the grandkids,” then added, “It’s all frozen so it should be fine, but there’s food that’s been in there for two years,” drawing laughter.
She also confessed the truth about dieting. “I bought a drink that supposedly helps you lose weight in two days, but it’s been sitting there for six months,” she admitted. “I kept thinking, ‘I should diet,’ but without any work, I had no motivation.” She added with a dose of realism, “I guess I’d better start before it expires.”
Hwang Jung-eum spoke frankly about her health, too. “After going through hard times, I can feel myself aging. My eyes are getting blurry, and if I don’t dye my hair, it turns white,” she said, maintaining a positive attitude with, “At least I’m not losing hair.”
Hwang Jung-eum married in 2016 and has two sons. She announced her divorce in 2024.
