Actor Hwang Jung-eum shared her honest thoughts on dating after her divorce.
On the 1st, Hwang uploaded a video to her YouTube channel showing herself visiting a jjimjilbang (Korean sauna) alone in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, relaxing in a charcoal kiln and taking some time for herself. While sitting at an outdoor eatery and chatting with the crew, she brought up love and dating.
When a staff member referenced an earlier fortunetelling session and asked, "Didn’t you ask how your luck with men looks?", Hwang replied, "How can you live without love? Humans are meant to love."
To the follow-up question, "Do you want to meet someone again?", Hwang said, "Why not meet someone? Of course we should love," signaling that she’s open to dating.
However, she admitted that carefree dating isn’t as easy as it sounds. Hwang said, "I want to play around and meet lots of people, but it doesn’t really work for me," adding, "I’m the type who dives deep into one person." She continued, "It’s tough—love is hard, and my fate is intense," revealing her candid feelings.
Previously, Hwang posted a video on her channel of visiting a shaman for a reading. At the time, the shaman told Hwang, "There’s no ideal spouse for you," and suggested, "It’s fine not to marry and to date freely." Even then, Hwang didn’t hide her interest in love, asking, "So when will I meet a good man?"
Meanwhile, Hwang married former pro golfer–turned entrepreneur Lee Young-don in 2016, and they have two sons. The couple applied for divorce mediation in 2020 but reconciled; later they proceeded with divorce again and officially went their separate ways in May 2025.
